The printed pattern draws inspiration from Dazzle, a WW1 ship camouflage designed not to hide a ship but rather to create visual confusion. 

On the shirt, this pattern breaks up sight lines, significantly reducing the visual signature of anything that would cause printing. This "Optical Print Mitigation" effectively suppresses printing even from large, accessorized handguns.
